At McNally Robinson Booksellers we are happy to play a part in our local writing community on a daily basis. We host hundreds of book events every year and enjoy a great deal of support from our fabulous local authors. Whether they’re attending a peer’s book launch, browsing our shelves, teaching a class in our Community Classroom or dining in Prairie Ink Restaurant, we’re privileged to welcome them into our store on a daily basis.
Without those incredible writers, and the readers that support them, our shelves would be emptier and our minds much less rich.
When we first heard of the attempt to create a special national day celebrating the unique bond between Authors and Indies, it seemed like a natural fit.
It was exciting to read of all the celebrations that took place across the country. The variety of reports coming in served as a testament to the vibrancy of booksellers and authors throughout Canada and their unique bond.
We’re looking forward to celebrating Authors for Indies 2016 and bringing the idea to another level. This time, we’re hoping to feature a wide group of writers from each city reading short selections from their favourite books, allowing them to celebrate the writing they love best while sharing it with regional readers.
To all those participating authors, we owe you all a debt of gratitude for sharing your thoughts and words with us all.
