HarperCollins Canada scores with a cool and fun item sold only at participating indie bookstores: the Neil Gaiman Colouring Book!
The Neil Gaiman Coloring Book includes 20 pieces of black-and-white art by Chris Riddell and quotes from Neil Gaiman—taken from the pages of Gaiman's books: Coraline, The Graveyard Book, and Fortunately, the Milk. This coloring book is a limited edition and available only at independent bookstores that are participating in Authors for Indies Day. It goes on sale April 30 and we're sure it's destined to become a collector's item. As if you needed more reasons to visit a local bookstore on April 30.
Many thanks to our friends at HarperCollins Canada for sourcing this. Published by HarperCollins Kids, this colouring book was put together in support of Independent Bookstore Day in the USA (also happening on April 30). HarperCollins Canada worked with their colleagues in the US to make sure it would also be available for Canadian indies. This kind of coordination is more work than it sounds, so big applause for HCC!
HarperCollins has also provided marketing support materials such as: the downloadable AFI poster, bookmark, and shelf talker.
And now, they are printing and shipping 10,000 bookmarks to give participating stores, in time to hand out to customers in the weeks before AFI !
Something really important -- HarperCollins has been incredibly proactive in encouraging their authors to sign up for AFI 2016 -- as you will notice from the large contingent of HCC authors on the list ! Now reps and publicists are working hard helping authors connect with stores. Many, many thanks for such enthusiastic support.
